The BIFTM Seminar

The BIFTM seminar is a series of monthly interdisciplinary seminars intended to give an overview on the current research interests of our research groups. The talks are expected to be given in a way that convey to a more general audience the most important aspects of the ongoing work.

In general, at each monthly seminar two groups present recent aspects of their work. For each presenting lab the first 10min talk is given by the PI who gives a brief overview of his/her research topic and how this relates to the BIFTM Programme. The next 2 talks are selected presentations of the actual work of the lab. They are to be prepared and given by young researchers, ideally PhD students (as part of their training) or by post-docs. Presentations should not be limited to "publication ready" work; on the contrary, ongoing work should be presented and even technical problems currently faced can be discussed.

The BIFTM seminar represents a platform for all BIFTM participants to keep updated regarding the research interests as currently represented in the programme. NOTE: Participation is mandatory for all PhD students in the programme (BIF-IGS members).

The BIFTM seminar is normally held on the first Monday of each month at KIT, Campus North, FTU mittlerer Hörsaal (upper floor) and starts at 9:15 a.m.

The coffee break is usually around 10:00-10:20 a.m.
